The Red Monkey Lounge. Where is it?
Wow, it’s been more than a few days since my last post. I always seem to fall behind on things when I’m in a writing project. I’m currently in the middle of writing a screenplay. A comedy, which I discovered is pretty challenging. Coincidentally, I met two stand-up comics last week, and they agreed that comedy is a tricky beast to capture. “Kind of a hit or miss thing,” they said. Good. Now, I feel better.
Lately, a few readers asked a question about a specific bar (The Red Monkey Lounge) in my book, Born from Ashes. Many San Francisco locations/businesses mentioned in my book (cafes, streets, hotels, record stores, restaurants, MTA lines, etc.) actually do exist in the non-fiction world. They can be founded in San Francisco; however, The Red Monkey Lounge only exists in my book. But, wait….
There is a specific bar that I had in mind when I created The Red Monkey Lounge. It’s a neighborhood bar in the Sunset District (low-key on most nights & my go-to spot when I want a strong drink). The other day, I passed this bar on my way to get a haircut and snapped a few pictures.
The next time I find myself at this place, I will snap a few pictures from inside. As I took these pictures, I had to take one of S.F. finest.
Luckily, I never had to speak to them after leaving the Fireside Bar (knock on wood and say a prayer). Unfortunately, this guy wasn’t so lucky.
Thanks for stopping by my blog. I’ll be back with something new in a few days. For more info, check out: www.ernestlangston.com Watch the book trailer.
Now, go enjoy your weekend! 🙂
